Role Overview
We are looking for a CAD + 3D Asset Modeler to create accurate, optimized 3D assets for industrial and factory digital twin applications.
The role involves working with engineering drawings, including DWG, DXF, PDF, and JPG files; recreating or cleaning up 2D drawings as needed; and converting machine and factory layouts into accurate 3D models using Blender.
The resulting assets will be used in real-time digital twin environments such as Unity and NVIDIA Omniverse, so models must balance engineering accuracy with real-time rendering performance.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is not purely an architectural visualization artist. We are looking for someone comfortable working from technical drawings and able to translate engineering information into clean, accurate, and optimized 3D assets.
Candidates should have a portfolio demonstrating industrial equipment, machinery, factory environments, hard-surface models, or CAD-to-3D work.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret machine drawings, factory layouts, and engineering drawings provided as DWG, DXF, PDF, or JPG.
Recreate or redraw incomplete 2D drawings using AutoCAD or BricsCAD.
Convert multiple 2D machine views, such as top, front, side, and sectional views, into accurate 3D machine models.
Create 3D models of:
Industrial machines and production equipment
Factory buildings and shop floors
Conveyors and material-handling systems
Storage racks and warehouse equipment
Utilities, pipes, ducts and supporting infrastructure
Workstations, safety barriers and other factory assets
Maintain correct dimensions, scale, orientation, pivots, and coordinate systems.
Create clean and reusable Blender assets with proper naming and scene hierarchy.
Optimize models for real-time visualization through polygon reduction and mesh optimization.
Create and optimize UVs, materials, and textures.
Create appropriate Levels of Detail (LOD) for large factory scenes.
Export and validate assets in formats such as glTF/GLB, FBX, and USD.
Work with Unity / Omniverse developers to ensure assets import correctly and perform efficiently.
Maintain an organized, reusable 3D asset library for machines and factory components.
Required Skills
2–4 years of professional experience in CAD drafting, 3D modeling, or industrial visualization.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or BricsCAD.
Strong hands-on experience with Blender.
Ability to understand engineering drawings and recreate geometry from orthographic 2D views.
Experience working with DWG, DXF, PDF, and image-based engineering drawings.
Good understanding of dimensions, scale, units, and coordinate systems.
Experience with hard-surface modeling for machines and industrial equipment.
Understanding of topology, polygon optimization, UV mapping, materials, and textures.
Familiarity with LOD creation and real-time asset optimization.
Experience exporting FBX and glTF/GLB assets.
Basic understanding of USD / OpenUSD workflows.
Ability to create visually accurate models even when the source material is incomplete or available only as PDF/JPG drawings.
Good to Have
Experience creating assets for Unity or NVIDIA Omniverse.
Experience working on factories, manufacturing plants, warehouses or industrial digital twins.
Familiarity with Siemens Tecnomatix or other manufacturing simulation/CAD environments.
Understanding of OpenUSD scene hierarchy, references, and asset organization.
Experience optimizing large scenes containing hundreds of machines or industrial assets.
Basic understanding of PBR material workflows.
Practical Skill Test
Shortlisted candidates may be provided with a 2D machine drawing containing top/front/side views and asked to:
Recreate or clean up the 2D drawing where required.
Build the machine accurately in Blender.
Apply basic materials and UVs.
Optimize the model for real-time use.
Export the final asset as FBX, GLB, or USD.
