We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President, Financial Accounting
Purpose Of Role
The current open position is in HSBC Financial Accounting team that involves period end close, preparation and signoff of annual accounts, accounting controls and balance sheet substantiation leading into IFRS, reporting which is a key input into the GFR process.
The role holder will be responsible for leading and manage the period end close process along with Saracen reporting. In addition to leading and supervising the team’s performance and managing stakeholders, the role holder is required to drive strategic & tactical transformation within the process. Key priorities include production of Analytical review, control and compliance with IFRS, Local GAAP and supporting CAO/CFO and Regional /Group sign off.
There is a strong focus on transformation, and the role holder has the responsibility to review the end to end processes and controls and to work closely with upstream and downstream processes (eg: Product Control/Risk/IPAC/Risk& Compliance, Tax & Transfer Pricing etc.) to strengthen the end-to-end process
Principal Responsibilities
Ability to manage and lead the Ledger close and Reporting process. Ability to manage end-to-end Annual Account review and sign off from auditors and internal senior stakeholders
Proficient in financial statement closure and reporting procedures.
Presenting financial report to senior stakeholders for their review and signoff
Would be responsible for certification and ensuring assurance and control /design effectiveness related to balance sheet accounts including substantiation
Ability to analyze and review processes, identifying automation and simplification opportunities and drive transformation agenda. Driving change initiatives within the process
Manage, lead and inspire the team to produce timely, accurate and complete information to stakeholders
Understanding of control frameworks and how to implement effective controls in practice.
Ability to deal with and analyse unstructured problems and queries and to question and challenge existing procedures.
To Be Successful You Will
Recognized professional accounting qualification with 15+ years of experience predominantly in Finance, including in leadership positions managing complex requirements from senior stakeholders
Experience of operating in senior governance forums, handling auditors
Strong experience and understanding across financial accounting and business finance
Strong formal written reporting skills and experience of drafting papers for Board-level audience
Ability to work under pressure, report to tight deadlines and deal effectively with issues as they arise
Commercial mindset with strong execution and problem-solving skills.
Experience in designing, implementing and validating the effectiveness of process controls
