Role Description The Mining Sardar is a full-time, on-site position based at the Bokaro operations of Eastan Coal Field Limited. The role involves supervising underground or open-cast mining activities, ensuring that teams follow safety procedures, operational standards, and statutory regulations. The Mining Sardar coordinates daily work plans, assigns tasks to mining staff, monitors production targets, and reports operational issues to senior supervisors or engineers. Responsibilities include inspecting working areas, checking ventilation and support systems, conducting safety briefings, and maintaining accurate records of shifts, materials, and manpower. The role also requires close collaboration with safety officers, maintenance teams, and management to prevent incidents and promote a safe, efficient work environment.
Qualifications
Valid Mining Sardar certification or license from the appropriate regulatory authority, with thorough knowledge of mining regulations and safety standards.
Experience supervising mining operations, including shift management, work allocation, and coordination with technical and safety teams.
Strong understanding of mine safety practices, hazard identification, emergency procedures, and use of personal protective equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mine plans, production schedules, and technical instructions related to underground or open-cast mining.
Effective communication and leadership skills to guide diverse teams, resolve issues on-site, and maintain discipline and safety compliance.
Physical ability to work in demanding mining environments and willingness to work in various shifts as required.
Basic recordkeeping and reporting skills, including maintaining logs for attendance, production, incidents, and inspections.
Prior experience in coal mining operations, especially in similar roles, is highly preferred; familiarity with Bokaro coal fields is an advantage.
Minimum educational qualification as per statutory requirements for Mining Sardar roles; additional technical or vocational training in mining is beneficial.
