Key Responsibilities
Manage procurement of marine equipment, machinery, spare parts, valves, pumps, piping components, electrical and automation items.
Review technical specifications, drawings, material requisitions and project requirements.
Identify and develop reliable suppliers for marine equipment and spare parts.
Prepare and issue RFQs/RFIs to approved and potential suppliers.
Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations from both technical and commercial perspectives.
Prepare technical and commercial comparison statements and recommend suitable suppliers.
Coordinate with engineering and project teams to resolve technical queries and clarify specifications.
Negotiate price, delivery, payment terms, warranty and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with approved procurement procedures.
Monitor purchase orders and ensure on-time delivery as per project and vessel requirements.
Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams for domestic and international shipments.
Handle urgent procurement requirements for vessel repairs, maintenance and onboard service attendances.
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, delivery and technical capability.
Develop and maintain an updated marine supplier/vendor database.
Identify alternative suppliers and technically acceptable alternatives to reduce cost and lead time.
Coordinate with finance/accounts regarding supplier invoices, payment status and required documentation.
Resolve issues related to shortages, incorrect materials, quality problems, delays and technical discrepancies.
Maintain complete procurement records, quotation files, purchase orders and supplier documentation.
Technical Knowledge
The candidate should have good working knowledge of:
Marine machinery and shipboard equipment
Pumps, compressors and motors
Valves and piping systems
Electrical and automation equipment
Marine spare parts
Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
Ship repair and maintenance requirements
Marine engineering drawings and specifications
Marine equipment manufacturers and suppliers
International procurement and logistics
Qualifications & Experience
Degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry.
Previous experience in technical procurement, marine spares, ship repair, ship management, shipyard or marine equipment supply is preferred.
Experience dealing with international suppliers will be an advantage.
