Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer – Product Development role based in Chennai. The person in this role will design and develop mechanical components and systems, with a focus on thermal management solutions for electric vehicle batteries and related products. Daily responsibilities include creating and reviewing CAD models and engineering drawings, performing design calculations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine concepts into manufacturable designs. The role involves supporting R&D activities, participating in feasibility studies, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing partners. The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to project planning, track progress against milestones, and ensure products meet performance, quality, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Mechanical Engineering fundamentals and knowledge of core engineering principles in heat exchangers.
Candidates should possess skills in Machine Design and experience with design calculations for mechanical heat exchanger systems.
Candidates should possess proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and 3D modeling for product development.
Candidates should possess Project Management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of engineering activities.
Candidates should possess experience in Research and Development (R&D), including feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing.
Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Beneficial skills include knowledge of thermal management, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and exposure to electric vehicle or energy storage systems.
Ability to work on-site in Chennai, collaborate effectively in teams, communicate clearly in written and spoken English, and maintain a detail-oriented, problem-solving mindset.
Minimum 2 years of industry based product development experience.
