What we do
Join IMECH at an exciting moment of growth — we’re rolling out Plasma Transfer Arc (PTA) cladding technology and need careful, detail-driven technicians to prepare parts for precision surface enhancement. As a PTA Prep Technician you’ll play a critical role in the process by tacking tiles, learning the process, and following strict procedures to ensure every component meets exacting standards before PTA application. We value a “do it right the first time” attitude: your accuracy and adherence to work instructions reduce rework, protect downstream processes, and directly impact product quality. If you take pride in precision, thrive on repeatable workmanship, and want to grow with a team investing in advanced coating technology, IMECH offers hands-on training, clear advancement paths, and a collaborative environment where your care makes a measurable difference.
What will you do? Your day to day success is determined by your ability to:
Follow all safety rules and regulations include wearing required PPE.
Manufacture a quality coated product by following written and verbal instructions.
Adhere to all standard procedures and specifications daily (handling rejects, recycling materials, scrap, etc.).
Identify and correct defects; perform adjustments to resolve deviations and document materials/process discrepancies.
Learn and assist in developing new techniques for new products.
Accurately measure and record all pertinent production and quality data.
Perform quality checks using inspection techniques to verify thickness, adhesion, and appearance.
Communicate quality issues and non-conformances to management promptly.
Use various measuring tools to ensure conformity to visual and dimensional specifications.
Use hand tools and equipment to ensure proper product fit and adherence.
Monitor inventory of materials, tools, and supplies.
Assist with general shop duties during downtime — support warehouse tasks, basic maintenance, material handling, and coating-area assistance as needed to keep production moving.
Participate in continuous learning opportunities.
Maintain all work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
With Quality in mind, you also bring the following:
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic math, geometry, and mechanical aptitude.
Basic measurement and print-reading skills.
Precision and strong attention to detail.
Excellent manual dexterity and ability to control application tools precisely.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Aptitude for decision-making and problem solving.
Excellent team skills; collaborative, open-minded, adaptable.
Motivation to self-advance and grow within the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two Year Technical Degree accreditation preferred.
Two years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience with metal surface coating processes is desirable (flame spray, PTA cladding, etc.)
Experience in leading a team an asset.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Passion in delivering accuracy and quality as a priority.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift to 50 pounds or more.
Prolonged standing and walking.
