Role Description The Assistant Purchasing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This position supports the purchasing function by sourcing food and non-food items, obtaining and comparing quotations, and ensuring timely procurement in line with quality and cost requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, tracking purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting in negotiation of prices and contracts under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, supporting vendor evaluation, resolving delivery or quality issues, and collaborating closely with kitchen, operations, and finance teams to ensure uninterrupted catering operations. The Assistant Purchasing Manager is expected to follow company policies, support cost-control initiatives, and contribute to process improvements in the procurement function.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of purchasing or procurement processes, including sourcing, order management, and vendor coordination.
Ability to analyze pricing, compare quotations, and support negotiation to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality.
Proficiency in using spreadsheets and basic ERP or inventory management software for tracking orders and stock levels.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with suppliers and internal teams such as kitchen, operations, and finance.
Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Prior experience in purchasing, supply chain, or stores within hospitality, catering, or food services is preferred.
Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, hospitality management, or a related field is beneficial.
