Educational Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mandatory) or Master in Science; MBA or equivalent management qualification preferred but not essential
Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, CSR Mobilisation
Demonstrated experience in identifying and mobilising CSR funds from corporate partners
Startup Ecosystem
Hands-on experience in startup incubation, acceleration, or venture support
Government Funding
Working experience with or strong networking connections to government funding agencies
Documentation
Proven ability to prepare project reports, funding proposals, and evaluation documents
Event Management
Experience in organising hackathons, innovation challenges, or large-scale technical events
Role Description
The ideal candidate is an engineer at heart and an entrepreneur in spirit — someone who understands both the language of technology and the dynamics of institution building. They bring energy, initiative, and the ability to work independently in a high-performing environment. Prior experience of working in an IIT, national research institution, incubation centre, or innovation-focused organisation will be an advantage.
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills, with experience supporting senior executives or institutional leadership.
Excellent communication abilities, including professional writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and comfort working with diverse stakeholders.
Background in higher education administration, public policy, management, or a related field; prior experience in academic or research institutions is highly beneficial.
Proven skills in project management, coordination of complex initiatives, and monitoring timelines, budgets, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Mobilise and manage Corporate Social Responsibility funding from industry partners and corporates in support of the Institute's innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives
Support and strengthen the startup incubation ecosystem at IIT Kharagpur, including engagement with incubatees, mentors, and investors
Prepare high-quality project reports, funding proposals, and evaluation frameworks for research and innovation projects
Identify, apply for, and manage grants and funding from government agencies including DST, ANRF, BIRAC, MEITY, and similar bodies
Conceptualise, organise, and execute hackathons, innovation challenges, and entrepreneurship events at national scale
Coordinate with internal stakeholders across departments, research centres, and the IIT Kharagpur Research Park
Build and maintain a strong network of industry, government, VC, and institutional partners relevant to the innovation ecosystem
