Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in Hyderabad. The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Laika IIoT’s edge hardware platforms, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and compliance with industrial standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating detailed CAD models and drawings, performing mechanical calculations and simulations, collaborating with cross-functional teams on system integration, and supporting prototype build, testing, and validation. The role also involves contributing to research and development initiatives, optimizing existing designs, resolving engineering issues on the production floor, and documenting specifications and test results. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with product, electronics, and software teams to ensure that mechanical systems integrate seamlessly with sensors, gateways, and industrial environments.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to industrial hardware and edge compute systems.
Proficiency in Machine Design, including selection of materials, components, and mechanisms suitable for rugged industrial environments.
Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, detailing, and preparing production-ready drawings.
Capability in Project Management, including planning, coordination with cross-functional teams, and tracking timelines and deliverables.
Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing new concepts, and iterating designs based on data and field feedback.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Familiarity with industrial standards, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis; experience with sheet metal, enclosures, or electromechanical systems is a plus.
Ability to work on-site in Hyderabad, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
Knowledge of reliability engineering, thermal management, and design for manufacturability and assembly is beneficial.
Previous experience in industrial automation, IoT hardware, or related sectors is an advantage.
