Role Description The IT/Software - Backend Development Intern role at EnviroSusIQ is a full-time, hybrid position based in Dehradun, with some flexibility for work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and APIs that support internal tools and research platforms. The intern will collaborate with senior developers to implement server-side logic, integrate databases, and optimize application performance and security. Typical tasks involve debugging and troubleshooting backend issues, contributing to documentation, and participating in code reviews to ensure quality and reliability. The role offers hands-on experience in applying backend development concepts within a data-driven, research-focused organization.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain APIs and server-side functionality.
• Implement business logic and integrations.
• Work with authentication, authorization and API security when the platform/backend is introduced.
• Integrate the backend with the frontend and database.
• Handle validation, error handling and API testing.
• Maintain proper documentation for APIs.

Strong foundation in Information Technology concepts, including operating systems, databases, and basic software development principles.
Ability to perform Troubleshooting activities for backend services, applications, and connectivity issues.
Familiarity with Network Administration and Network Security fundamentals to support secure data access and communications.
Customer Service mindset with clear communication skills to support internal teams and respond to technical queries.
Exposure to backend programming languages or frameworks (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, or similar) is highly beneficial.
Understanding of RESTful APIs, version control (e.g., Git), and basic database querying (SQL or NoSQL) is an advantage.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment, manage time effectively, and learn new tools and technologies quickly.
