Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Tool & Die Maker role based in Coimbatore. The Tool & Die Maker will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to technical drawings and specifications. Daily tasks include operating conventional and CNC machines, performing precision measurements, and ensuring tight tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, planning machining sequences, conducting trial runs, and troubleshooting issues to improve tool performance and product quality. The Tool & Die Maker will collaborate with production and quality teams, follow safety and housekeeping standards, and support continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.
Qualifications
Strong experience in tool and die making, including machining, fitting, assembly, and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Proficiency in operating conventional machines (lathe, milling, grinding, drilling) and exposure to CNC machining and programming is an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical sketches, and work instructions, with good understanding of tolerances and geometric dimensions.
Skilled in precision measurement and inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other metrology tools.
Knowledge of tooling materials, heat treatment, and surface finishing processes relevant to tool and die manufacturing.
Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes of tool-related issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and good housekeeping practices on the shop floor.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with reliable time management and attention to detail.
Relevant technical qualification such as ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical, or equivalent; prior experience in a tool room or precision manufacturing environment is preferred.
