Role Description The Operations Lead – Agriculture Drones Spraying will oversee day-to-day field operations for drone-based crop spraying across multiple agricultural sites in and around Pune City. This full-time, on-site role involves planning and executing spraying missions, coordinating with farmers and local stakeholders, and ensuring safe, efficient deployment of drone fleets. The position includes supervising drone pilots and ground staff, monitoring equipment readiness, managing maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety, aviation, and agricultural guidelines. The Operations Lead will track operational metrics, optimize workflows, handle incident reporting, and collaborate with technical and product teams to improve spraying techniques and service quality. The role also requires training field personnel, supporting demonstrations and farmer training programs, and contributing to the scale-up of Drone-as-a-Service operations.
Qualifications
Strong operational management skills, including team coordination, scheduling, and field logistics for multi-site agricultural projects.
Experience with drone or UAV operations, preferably in agriculture spraying or precision farming, and familiarity with DGCA or relevant aviation guidelines.
Knowledge of agricultural practices, crop protection methods, and safe handling and application of agrochemicals.
Technical aptitude for overseeing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues, and working with digital tools and dashboards.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to work with farmers, local authorities, internal teams, and service partners.
Ability to lead and train field staff and pilots, enforce safety protocols, and maintain accurate operational documentation and reports.
Comfort working in outdoor and rural environments with frequent travel to fields around Pune City.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agriculture, Engineering, Aviation, Operations Management, or a related field; relevant experience in lieu of formal education may be considered.
Prior experience in startups or technology-driven service operations is an advantage; familiarity with SaaS or DaaS models is beneficial.
