Role Description The ICU Technologist role at Serampore Walsh Subdivision Hospital is a full-time, on-site position based in Pingla. The ICU Technologist will assist medical and nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit by monitoring patients, operating and maintaining critical care equipment, and supporting the delivery of life-support therapies. Daily responsibilities include preparing and calibrating ventilators and monitors, checking and documenting equipment performance, and ensuring all devices are used safely and according to protocol. The role also involves assisting with procedures, recording patient data accurately, maintaining sterile and organized work areas, and promptly reporting equipment or patient-related concerns to the clinical team. The ICU Technologist is expected to collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support high-quality, timely care for critically ill patients.
Qualifications
Relevant technical diploma or degree in critical care technology, biomedical equipment technology, or a related healthcare field.
Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ICU equipment such as ventilators, multi-parameter monitors, infusion pumps, and suction devices.
Knowledge of basic human physiology, ICU protocols, infection control practices, and emergency response procedures.
Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, and ability to follow clinical instructions and safety guidelines.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work calmly and efficiently in high-pressure, 24/7 critical care environments.
Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for continuous ICU coverage.
Prior experience in an ICU or critical care setting is highly desirable; fresh graduates with relevant training may also be considered.
