Project roles and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical assembly and installation activities in BIW production lines.
Should have Knowledge of BIW Design Tools .
Operate and handle BIW fixtures, jigs, clamps, gauges, hand tools, and pneumatic tools.
Set up and adjust mechanical fixtures and tooling as per production requirements.
Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of BIW mechanical equipment.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems in fixtures, conveyors, clamps, grippers, and other produc-tion equipment.
Support line start-up, changeover, trial runs, and new model/tooling implementation.
Inspect fixtures and equipment for alignment, wear, damage, and proper functioning.
Perform fixture correction, minor modifications, and mechanical adjustments.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve line issues.
Ensure proper functioning and alignment of BIW fixtures to maintain dimensional accuracy.
Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and maintenance schedules.
Maintain records of breakdowns, maintenance activities, and tooling/fixture issues.
Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring mechanical problems.
Follow 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and other manufacturing improvement practices.
Ensure Compliance With Company Safety Standards And PPE Requirements.
Maintain housekeeping and workplace safety within the assigned production area.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on knowledge of BIW assembly and mechanical systems.
Good knowledge of jigs, fixtures, clamps, locating pins, gauges, and tooling.
Knowledge of pneumatic and basic hydraulic systems.
Ability to use mechanical hand tools and measuring instruments.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and mechanical dimensions.
Knowledge of fixture alignment, setting, and correction.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns independently.
Basic knowledge of welding fixtures and BIW production processes.
Knowledge of TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in shifts and under production targets.
Educational Qualification
ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or related trade.
Additional technical certification in mechanical maintenance or automotive manufacturing will be an ad-vantage.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in BIW, automotive manufacturing, mechanical assembly, tooling, fixture maintenance, or related production environments.
Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or high-volume manufacturing plants is pre-ferred.
