About the Role
FITT is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to support its Legal & Compliance functions. The intern will assist in reviewing and analyzing contracts, conducting legal and regulatory research, identifying compliance requirements, and supporting documentation and record-keeping activities.
The role is suited for a candidate with a strong interest in corporate law, contracts, legal compliance, and organizational risk management, who is able to translate legal research into clear and practical recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
-Legal and Contractual Support
Assist in reviewing, analyzing, drafting, and redrafting agreements and other legal documents from an organizational perspective.
Review common contractual provisions, including:
Indemnity
Limitation of liability
Confidentiality and non-disclosure
Intellectual property rights
Termination
Representations and warranties
Dispute resolution
Governing law and jurisdiction
Other relevant commercial and legal provisions
Identify clauses that may create legal, financial, commercial, or operational risks for the organisation.
Assist in preparing comments, observations, and proposed revisions to contractual documents.
Support the legal team in maintaining a systematic repository of agreements, legal documents, and related records.
-Legal Research and Advisory Support
Conduct independent research on legal and regulatory questions relevant to FITT's activities.
Analyze applicable laws, rules, regulations, notifications, circulars, and judicial developments.
Prepare concise research notes, summaries, and recommendations with appropriate legal sources and references.
Support the team in understanding the practical implications of changes in applicable laws and regulations.
-Compliance Support
Assist in identifying applicable statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to the organisation's activities.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and highlight changes that may impact FITT.
Assist in reviewing internal processes, policies, forms, agreements, and documentation from a compliance perspective.
Support compliance-related documentation, trackers, checklists, and reporting.
Assist in maintaining records relating to statutory, regulatory, and contractual compliance.
-Documentation and Drafting
Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation and records.
Assist in preparing legal correspondence, notices, summaries, and internal documentation.
Coordinate with relevant internal teams for collection of information and documents required for legal or compliance activities.
Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive legal and organizational information.
Key Skills and Attributes
Strong understanding of corporate and commercial law fundamentals.
Good understanding of common contractual terms and their organizational implications.
Ability to identify potential legal, financial, and operational risks in agreements.
Basic legal drafting and redrafting skills.
Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
Ability to independently research legal questions and present clear, concise, and well-supported conclusions.
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret statutory and regulatory requirements and understand their practical application.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with multiple teams.
High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
Educational Qualifications
Preferred candidates:
LL.B. students – preferably in their 3rd or 4th year.
Company Secretary (CS) students – preferably CS Executive passed.
LL.B. graduates with prior exposure to an in-house legal/compliance function, corporate law firm, consulting organization, or similar professional environment.
Candidates with exposure to corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, or legal research will be preferred.
This is an unpaid internship for the first two months. After two months, the conversion and stipend will be provided based on these two months.
