About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Position: Senior Dynatrace Engineer
Experience: 8+ years
Location: Pune
You will run and evolve the Dynatrace estate of a large hybrid environment.
From November 2026 the pod takes over the client's current platform: maintaining configuration, delivering an enhancements backlog covering dashboards, alert and correlation tuning and service onboarding, and working alongside the client's own engineers. As a new strategic platform is implemented from April 2027, the pod supports the build and then owns its ongoing support and maintenance, including telemetry ingestion and processing, dashboards and analytics, alerting quality, event correlation and the ServiceNow pipeline, all delivered as monitoring-as-code. The Technical Lead is the most senior observability expert in the offshore team and the pod's technical authority: majority hands-on, with work planning, quality ownership, escalation handling and mentoring alongside it, working closely with a UK Architect and Service Delivery Manager. The role is expected to grow into managing the team as the service matures.
Responsibilities
Current platform: Maintain and enhance configuration, dashboards, alerting, correlation and service onboarding, and deliver the enhancements backlog.
New platform support: Support the new platform build, then own its ongoing support and maintenance, covering platform health, upgrades, and the quality of ingest, correlation and visualisation.
Telemetry engineering: Onboard and maintain ingestion across logs, metrics, traces and events, including the processing rules applied at ingest.
Event correlation: Implement and tune correlation rules, AI-assisted alerting and thresholds, along with the ServiceNow event-to-incident pipeline and CMDB alignment.
Monitoring-as-code: Deliver configuration as code, with Git review and pipelines rather than console changes.
Technical leadership (Lead seat): Plan and prioritise the pod's work, own the quality of what it ships, act as escalation point for complex platform and integration problems, mentor the engineers, and represent offshore delivery to the UK Architect and Service Delivery Manager.
Required Skills
Dynatrace or comparable APM: Hands-on experience running an enterprise observability platform. Dynatrace is preferred and AppDynamics, New Relic, Datadog or Elastic all transfer well.
Core monitoring engineering: Connecting data sources across logs, metrics and events, configuring ingestion pipelines, and building dashboards, alerts and policies.
Event and ITSM integration: Working with event-to-incident flows and ITSM platforms, ServiceNow preferred.
Change discipline: Configuration treated as reviewed code, with Git-based workflows, plus scripting in Python, PowerShell or Bash and comfort with REST APIs.
Hybrid estates: Monitoring across cloud (AWS and Azure) and on-premises infrastructure and applications; clear written and spoken English for daily work with UK colleagues.
Technical leadership (Lead seat only): Evidence of leading small engineering teams technically: owning review, mentoring, prioritising work and taking escalations. Formal people-management experience is not required.
Preferred Skills
Current Dynatrace generation: Grail and DQL, OpenPipeline ingest processing, Davis AI tuning, and Monaco or the Dynatrace Terraform provider.
Standards: OpenTelemetry, and Kubernetes with the Dynatrace Operator.
Consolidation: Migrating or consolidating monitoring off legacy tooling.
Extras: Dynatrace certifications and ITIL.
