About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D engineering team.
The Engineer will work on mechanical product design, 3D modelling, engineering drawings, sheet metal components, mechanical assemblies, and prototype development for electric two-wheeler applications.
This role is suitable for candidates who want to build a strong career in automotive product development, EV engineering, mechanical design, and manufacturing.
The candidate will work closely with the Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to develop and improve vehicle components while ensuring design quality, manufacturability, functionality, and project requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and modify 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
Prepare and maintain 2D engineering drawings, BOMs, DXF files, specifications, and other technical documentation.
Design and develop sheet metal components, brackets, enclosures, fixtures, mounts, and mechanical assemblies.
Apply fundamental principles of mechanical design, GD&T, tolerancing, and tolerance stack-up.
Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and consider relevant manufacturing processes and constraints.
Support prototype development, assembly, testing, validation, and design iterations.
Work with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve design-for-manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) issues.
Incorporate engineering changes and maintain proper revision control and design documentation.
Support product development activities from concept development through prototyping, validation, and production/SOP.
Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and engineering problem-solving activities.
Provide timely support to production and engineering teams for design-related issues.
Assist in identifying opportunities for cost reduction, weight optimization, reliability improvement, and design simplification.
Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure timely completion of assigned design activities.
Required Skills & Technical Knowledge
Basic to intermediate knowledge of SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and engineering drawings.
Basic knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
Understanding of basic mechanical design calculations.
Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, fabrication, and fasteners will be an advantage.
Understanding of BOMs, part drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively with manufacturing and cross-functional teams.
Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
Educational Qualification
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, or
Students with relevant academic or technical projects will be preferred.
Candidates with experience in BAJA, SUPRA, Formula Student, EV projects, robotics, SAE projects, or other engineering projects will have an added advantage.
