Role Description
Develop, coordinate, and manage community engagement initiatives that strengthen relationships, increase participation, and build trust between the organisation and its audiences. This role is responsible for creating inclusive engagement programmes, managing community communications, and ensuring that feedback is collected and incorporated into relevant activities or decisions.
The successful candidate will plan community events, workshops, campaigns, online discussions, and outreach activities. Responsibilities include responding to enquiries, creating engaging content, managing social or community platforms, coordinating volunteers and partners, monitoring community sentiment, and maintaining accurate engagement records.
The role requires close collaboration with marketing, communications, customer service, public relations, programme teams, nonprofit organisations, local authorities, and community partners. Additional responsibilities may include identifying partnership opportunities, supporting advocacy initiatives, resolving community concerns, preparing engagement reports, and measuring programme participation and impact.
For managerial responsibilities, the position may develop the overall community strategy, lead engagement personnel, manage programme budgets, establish communication guidelines, and represent the organisation at external meetings or events.
Qualifications
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Community Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience in community engagement, community management, communications, events, outreach, customer relations, or programme coordination.
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and facilitation skills.
Ability to plan and coordinate community events, campaigns, workshops, and partnership activities.
Experience managing social media groups, forums, online communities, or digital engagement platforms.
Strong writing and content-development skills for announcements, newsletters, social posts, and community updates.
Ability to respond professionally to questions, feedback, complaints, and sensitive community concerns.
Experience collecting community feedback, monitoring engagement metrics, and preparing performance reports.
Strong organisational, project-management, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work with diverse audiences, volunteers, stakeholders, and external organisations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with customer relationship management, email marketing, social media, or event-management tools.
Ability to manage multiple activities, priorities, and deadlines.
Willingness to attend occasional evening or weekend community events when required.
Leadership or team-management experience is preferred for community management responsibilities.
