Software Engineer Java SpringBoot Microservices – Cloud Native Applications (GCP)

The Revenue Optimization Team is expanding as we modernize our platforms and build next-generation cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are seeking a Software Engineer who brings strong hands-on development skills, solid design experience, and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.
This role is ideal for an engineer who can own features end-to-end, contribute to system design, and work closely with Lead and Principal Engineers to deliver high-impact solutions.
Responsibilities
Software Development & Design
Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native application components and services.
Build and enhance microservices-based architectures using modern development practices.
Translate business and product requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices.
Participate in design discussions and technical reviews.
Cloud & Platform Engineering
Develop and operate applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Work with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment processes.
Ensure applications are designed for scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
AI & Modern Engineering Practices
Experience using AI Agents for software development to assist with coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, and development productivity.
Awareness of AI-enabled SDLC practices and how AI can support various stages of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Quality, Performance & Operations
Identify and fix performance bottlenecks and reliability issues.
Participate in troubleshooting production issues and root cause analysis.
Contribute to improving observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
Help reduce technical debt through continuous refactoring and improvement.
Collaboration & Growth
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Quality Engineers, and Platform teams.
Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Continuously learn new technologies and contribute innovative ideas.
Experience
Required Skills
3-4 years of professional experience building enterprise-grade software applications.
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Java
Solid experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
Good understanding of cloud-native application design principles.
Cloud & DevOps
Experience working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and automated testing.
Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global team.
Ability to take ownership of features and deliver with minimal supervision.
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (required).
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
Proven experience operating mission-critical, high-availability systems in cloud or hybrid environments.
