Help shape high-quality tax reporting and advisory outcomes that enable confident decision-making. You’ll lead a team, partner closely with stakeholders, and improve end-to-end processes. As a Tax Manager in the Tax Services team, you will lead the delivery of accurate, timely tax reporting and tax support for internal stakeholders and external clients. You will apply strong technical tax knowledge to the operating model, while strengthening controls, documentation, and service quality. You will also manage a team and contribute to process improvements and product development initiatives.
Job responsibilities
Deliver and review tax reporting and related deliverables (for example: tax returns, tax distributions, supplementary reporting, and support on corporate actions)
Manage client tax queries and stakeholder requests through clear intake, prioritization, tracking, and closure
Analyze tax data from investment and accounting systems and internal tax reporting platforms to identify issues and drive resolution
Own delivery timelines and quality standards, ensuring outputs are completed on time and to agreed requirements
Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across tax reporting processes, including defining and performing control checks
Develop, maintain, and improve tax documentation, including standard operating procedures and tax reporting policies
Partner with stakeholders to define business requirements, document functional and non-functional needs, and agree solutions
Review project materials across the delivery lifecycle (process flows, use cases, gap analysis, specifications, test plans, test scripts, and training materials) and coordinate approvals
Lead, coach, and develop a team of tax analysts and people managers, including onboarding and training plans for new hires
Maintain effective stakeholder communications through clear status updates, presentations, and reporting
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field
Minimum of 8 years of tax experience
Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to apply tax requirements to business processes and operating models
Knowledge of Australian tax requirements relevant to financial services, including Taxation of Financial Arrangements (TOFA)
Demonstrated experience preparing and/or reviewing tax returns, tax distributions, and supplementary tax reporting
Demonstrated experience managing tax-related queries from clients and stakeholders with clear documentation and follow-through
Experience interpreting and analyzing data from investment and accounting systems for tax reporting purposes
Experience identifying risks, implementing controls, and maintaining a strong controls environment within operational processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate alignment across multiple teams
Proven ability to prioritize multiple deliverables, meet deadlines, and take accountability for outcomes
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
Minimum of 8 years of tax experience, preferably within custody, professional services, or financial service
Master’s degree in Tax (or equivalent)
Experience leading process improvement and/or product development initiatives within a tax services environment
Experience drafting and maintaining tax-related operating procedures and policy documentation
Experience leading teams that include both individual contributors and people managers
Experience supporting change delivery activities such as requirements, testing, and training coordination
