Role Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned and passionate Manager – Industrial Designer to lead and mentor our team of designers. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong design capabilities, excellent project and team management skills, and the ability to translate client requirements into innovative, market-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing design functions, leading projects, and reporting to the Studio Head.
Job Description:
•This is a leadership position in Desmania.
•The incumbent will lead the team of Industrial Designers.
•Incumbent will be responsible for managing the projects and interfacing with the client. Will be responsible to run the design function and report to the Studio Head.
•He/she should have excellent creative and problem-solving abilities with in-depth knowledge in plastics and manufacturing. He/she should be a people’s person with great intra personnel skills supplemented with CRM capabilities.
•Knowledge of 3D design software/s is mandatory.
•Necessary documentation and record maintaining capabilities.
•Time management and handling multiple projects at a time.
•Reporting and updating the studio head on a regular basis.
•Taking ownership of the projects
•Keeping the Designs team updated with the latest trends, materials and technologies.
Responsibilities:
1.Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, setting project timelines, budgets, and priorities. Ensure that all design projects are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
2.Recruit, train, and mentor industrial designers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the design team.
3.Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and marketing, to understand project requirements and translate them into compelling design concepts.
4.Oversee the creation of prototypes and mock-ups to evaluate and refine design concepts. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback for design improvements.
5.Maintain and enforce design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across product lines and adherence to the company's brand identity.
6.Stay updated on industry trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies to incorporate relevant design elements into new product development.
7.Manage the budget for the design department, including resource allocation, cost control, and forecasting.
Qualifications & Skills:
•M.Des in Industrial/Product Design from a reputed design school.
•8–10 years of hands-on experience in design consultancy or corporate design.
•Expertise in design software – SolidWorks is a must.
•In-depth knowledge of plastics, manufacturing processes, and prototyping.
•Strong team leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
•Ability to handle client communication and build lasting relationships.
Preferred Skills:
•Familiarity with model-making and rapid prototyping techniques.
•Exposure to a variety of materials and cutting-edge design tools.
•Experience in managing project documentation and timelines efficiently.
