Morgan Stanley Japan is hiring for multiple Associate roles in Fixed Income Operations in Tokyo and Osaka, these positions include;
JGB Trade Support Group (TOKYO)
Financing Operations (TOKYO)
Rates Derivative/FX Confirmations (OSAKA)
Special Situations Group Operations (TOKYO)
Role and Responsibilities;
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
JGB Trade Support Group (TOKYO)
- Process the JGB Auction & BOJ Market Operation
- Support the trades of JGB, UST, and Mutual Funds
- Support trades done with external clients, broker/dealers, and internal trading desks
- Manage trade matching and exceptions prior to settlement date
- Process and control the Regulatory Reporting & Legal Ledgers
- Participate in the Change The Bank initiatives and projects for industry-wide mandatory changes and discretionary system enhancements
Financing Operations (TOKYO)
- Support repo and securities financing transactions throughout the trade lifecycle.
- Monitor and manage daily funding, position movements, and financing-related settlements, process BOJ Market Operation
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of securities deliveries, receipts, and cash movements.
- Liaise with Front Office traders, counterparties, custodians, and internal infrastructure groups to facilitate transaction processing.
- Support collateral movements, inventory management, and funding-related control functions.
- Support regulatory reporting, legal ledger, and audit/control requirements where applicable.
Rates Derivative/FX Confirmations (OSAKA)
- Supported products: Derivatives (Interest Rate, Credit, Foreign Exchange, Equity)
- Draft, validate, and issue confirmations.
- Perform trade affirmation and confirmation matching activities to ensure trades are accurately documented and agreed with counterparties
- Investigate and resolve confirmation breaks, mismatches, and disputed trade economics through engagement with internal/external stakeholders.
- Support Japan-specific post-trade regulatory reporting obligations and control requirements
- Partner with Front Office, Settlements, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams to support new products, business initiatives, and process enhancements
Special Situations Group Operations (TOKYO)
- Supported products: Performing/Non-Performing Loans, Trust Beneficiary Interest, Distressed Debt, Corporate Bond, Equities.
- Act as a key liaison between Trading, Sales, Finance, Banking Operations, Legal/Compliance, Technology, and external loan servicers
- Deal support for SSG business transactions and new deal onboarding.
- Money Lending Business support for GCM, IED and other Fixed Income businesses.
- Loan servicing activities including repayments, redemptions and cashflow processing.
- Regulatory reporting and legal ledger maintenance.
Expected Skill and Experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese Business Language
- Good understanding about front-to-back operational process and life of a trade
- Understanding of risk and economic discrepancies
- Ability to work with colleagues in other locations, maintain communication and build rapport with global colleagues
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to provide high level client service (internal & external)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Dedication on getting the job done
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to strong work ethics and significant leadership potential
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, operational controls, or process improvement initiatives.
- Automation experience (e.g., Alteryx, Power Automate, VBA, Python, or similar technologies)

Demonstrates detailed knowledge of the processes, projects, systems, markets and instruments that influence their team.

Ensures Compliance Courses and Policies are completed on a timely basis.
May be required to build and manage relationships on a day to day level with Business Unit partners, other Morgan Stanley infrastructure departments, and external contact points in Client organizations.
