Role Description The Associate role at VY Legal is a full-time, on-site position based in Connaught Place. The Associate will handle legal research, draft pleadings, contracts, opinions, and other documents, and support case strategy across corporate, commercial, arbitration, and criminal/regulatory matters. Daily responsibilities include reviewing case files, analyzing statutes and case law, preparing briefs and notes for senior counsel, and coordinating with clients, courts, and external stakeholders. The role involves attending hearings and conferences as required, maintaining accurate matter records and timelines, and contributing to internal knowledge-building and practice development. Associates are expected to work closely with senior lawyers, demonstrate strong professional ethics, and manage their workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Possess strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and regulatory materials, and present clear, reasoned conclusions.
Demonstrate proficiency in legal drafting, including pleadings, contracts, opinions, notices, and correspondence, with careful attention to structure, clarity, and accuracy.
Show capability in litigation support and case management, such as preparing hearing notes, organizing documents, coordinating filings, and tracking deadlines.
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with clients, courts, and colleagues and present complex issues succinctly.
Hold an LL.B. or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution; enrollment with a Bar Council and prior internship or work experience in litigation or corporate law are advantageous.
Demonstrate strong time management, organization, and problem-solving abilities, with willingness to take responsibility and work collaboratively in an on-site environment.
Familiarity with corporate and commercial law, arbitration procedures, and criminal/regulatory practice, as well as comfort using legal databases and productivity tools, is beneficial.
