The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization has a mission to create marketplace demand and drive commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative products, partnerships, marketing, and customer experiences.
The Frontend Developer will report to the OnBrand Director of Engineering. OnBrand is American Express’ In-House Creative agency, and we’re on a journey for exciting expansion. Our ambition is: Become the creative partner-of-choice to build seamless customer experiences for our Business Units, essential for driving results and unlocking value through deeper knowledge of our business powered by industry-defining creative excellence. We are focused on developing forward thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must exhibit outstanding judgment, solution-oriented thinking and superior technical skills. The Frontend Developer will work with the development team leadership to drive solutions for complex projects, and navigate changes in scope to deliver a successful project. They will partner with account, project management, UX/UI, creative, and QA teams to balance the expectations of clients with the execution of creative work.
Qualifications
5+ years of frontend development experience
Advanced knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JS
Experience building custom dynamic responsive HTML emails from scratch and optimizing for delivery across a variety of clients, browsers, and operating systems
Knowledge of email best practices and industry standards
Experience with email testing software (Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar)
Strong understanding of web development best practices around security, privacy, accessibility, responsiveness, and performance
Adobe Experience Manager CMS (or similar)
Strong understanding of web development best practices around accessibility, responsiveness, and performance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Ability to work with a Project Management tool (e.g., Workfront, JIRA, etc)

Responsibilities
Write high-quality code for digital platforms using HTML, CSS and Javascript
Build reusable digital experiences while managing and customizing modular web content
Execute development for a range of multiple parallel project engagements
Produce, maintain, and modify digital experiences and user interfaces
Partner with the UX/UI, copy and design teams to setup digital experiences for success from the ideation stage
Ensure all digital experiences align to industry standards and best practices
Partner with QA team to troubleshoot and resolve defects
Incorporate feedback from US ‘on shore’ team during offshore hours to turn around updates with shorter SLAs
Conducts QA defect remediation during offshore hours to enable ‘US on shore’ team to receive final deliverables within 24 hrs of handoff
Shares best practices broadly with team, creating an offshore OnBrand COE
