Division : Processing Division, Sipcot ,Perundurai.
Qualification : B.E/M.E - Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics
Experience: 18 to 20 years (Experience in Textile background is preferred)
01 Role Summary
The Assistant General Manager – Project Implementation & Plant Maintenance is responsible for the planning, execution, and monitoring of plant projects along with the overall maintenance and reliability of machines, utilities, and factory infrastructure.
The role ensures that all production equipment, utilities, and technical systems operate efficiently with minimal downtime while supporting production targets and operational requirements. The AGM will also oversee the successful implementation of new projects including machine installation, plant expansion, and process improvement initiatives.
02 Roles & Responsibilities
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all production machinery and equipment to ensure smooth functioning, minimize unexpected breakdowns, and restore operations quickly in the event of failures. Coordinate closely with the production team to minimize machine downtime.
• Manage all plant utilities including steam systems, boilers, chillers, compressors, electrical distribution systems, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and other supporting infrastructure required for production operations. Continuously monitor utility performance to ensure uninterrupted supply to production departments.
• Plan and execute capital projects such as installation of new machines, plant upgrades, expansion projects, automation initiatives, and infrastructure improvements. Ensure all projects are implemented within approved timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and technical service providers for project implementation, machine commissioning, and technical support. Maintain proper documentation and verification during installation and commissioning activities.
• Evaluate existing equipment performance and identify opportunities for technical upgrades, modernization, and process automation to improve plant productivity and reliability.
• Prepare the annual maintenance budget and ensure all maintenance activities are executed within the approved budget. Monitor maintenance costs and ensure efficient utilization of spare parts, maintenance materials, and external service resources.
• Maintain proper spare parts management and inventory planning to ensure availability of critical components and prevent production disruptions.
• Ensure all maintenance and project activities comply with safety standards, statutory requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Promote safe maintenance practices and ensure all technicians and maintenance staff follow proper safety procedures.
• Supervise maintenance engineers, technicians, and support staff while ensuring proper training, skill development, and operational discipline within the maintenance department.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment history logs, breakdown reports, and preventive maintenance documentation to ensure effective tracking and continuous improvement of plant reliability.
• Identify technical improvement opportunities to enhance machine efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall plant performance.
