We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and dynamic Principal to lead our ICSE school and provide academic, administrative, and strategic leadership. The Principal will be responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring effective implementation of the ICSE curriculum, developing faculty and staff, fostering student wellbeing, and building a strong culture of academic excellence, values, discipline, and holistic development.
The ideal candidate will be an inspiring educational leader with strong knowledge of the ICSE/ISC curriculum and CISCE requirements, excellent communication skills, sound administrative capabilities, and a demonstrated ability to lead a high-performing school community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
Provide strategic direction for the academic programme in accordance with CISCE/ICSE curriculum requirements.
Ensure effective curriculum planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement.
Monitor academic standards and student learning outcomes across grades.
Promote innovative, experiential, inquiry-based, and technology-enabled teaching practices.
Ensure appropriate preparation of students for ICSE/ISC board examinations.
Review academic data and implement interventions to improve student performance.
Encourage co-curricular, sports, arts, leadership, and other holistic learning opportunities.
2. School Administration & Operations
Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the school and ensure smooth, efficient operations.
Establish and implement school policies, procedures, systems, and processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable CISCE regulations and statutory requirements.
Manage timetables, academic calendars, examinations, admissions, events, and school activities.
Coordinate effectively with the management, teachers, administrative staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
Ensure effective utilisation and maintenance of school infrastructure, laboratories, library, sports facilities, and other resources.
Maintain appropriate records, documentation, and reporting systems.
3. Faculty Leadership & Development
Recruit, induct, mentor, motivate, and retain high-quality teaching staff.
Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular teacher observations and appraisals.
Identify professional-development needs and facilitate ongoing teacher training.
Build a collaborative, accountable, and positive professional culture.
Develop future academic leaders and strengthen middle-management capabilities.
Address performance and disciplinary matters fairly and in accordance with school policies.
4. Student Development & Wellbeing
Foster a safe, inclusive, respectful, and student-centred school environment.
Ensure effective systems for student discipline, pastoral care, counselling, and wellbeing.
Promote character development, leadership, responsibility, citizenship, and ethical values.
Ensure appropriate safeguarding and child-protection practices.
Encourage student participation in sports, cultural activities, clubs, competitions, community service, and leadership programmes.
Address student concerns promptly and sensitively.
5. Parent & Community Engagement
Develop strong and constructive relationships with parents and guardians.
Communicate the school's vision, policies, academic expectations, and student progress effectively.
Lead parent meetings, orientations, workshops, and school-community initiatives.
Handle parent concerns and grievances professionally and ensure timely resolution.
Represent the school at relevant educational forums and community engagements.
6. Strategic Leadership & School Development
Develop and execute the school's academic and institutional development plans.
Establish measurable goals and key performance indicators for school improvement.
Drive initiatives relating to academic excellence, student outcomes, teacher quality, infrastructure, technology, and school culture.
Support the management in long-term planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and institutional growth.
Strengthen the school's reputation, values, and positioning within the education community.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
7. Compliance, Safety & Governance
Ensure compliance with CISCE requirements and applicable central/state/local education regulations.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
Ensure appropriate child-safety and safeguarding systems are implemented and monitored.
Oversee school inspections, audits, accreditation requirements, and regulatory documentation.
Maintain confidentiality and professional integrity in all school matters.
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Education or a relevant academic discipline.
B.Ed. / equivalent professional teaching qualification preferred/required as applicable.
Strong understanding of the ICSE/CISCE curriculum and examination framework.
Relevant school-leadership or educational-administration qualification will be an advantage.
Demonstrated experience in a senior academic leadership position, preferably as a Vice Principal, Head of School, or Principal.
Experience
12–15+ years of overall experience in school education, with significant experience in teaching and academic leadership.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior school leadership/administrative role preferred.
Experience in an ICSE/ISC school will be strongly preferred.
Proven experience in leading faculty teams, managing school operations, improving academic outcomes, and engaging with parents and management.
