The Global Brand Director for GI Cancer will be part of the Global IO Commercial Franchise Team and will set and implement the global brand strategy for this priority ADC asset. The role leads integrated commercial planning across launch, growth and lifecycle development, working with global, regional and country teams and with Marketing, Global Analytics & Insights, Digital, Diagnostics, Pricing and Market Access, Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs and other partners.
The role is accountable for creating a differentiated strategy and campaign, generating deep customer and market insights, delivering launch readiness, informing evidence and investment choices, and building market-shaping programs that maximize patient and business impact. It also represents Global Commercial perspectives in relevant cross-functional governance forums.
Typical accountabilities:
1. Global brand strategy and leadership
Set and communicate a clear, differentiated and long-term global brand strategy for GI asset aligned with the GI tumour strategy and broader Oncology priorities.
Lead annual strategic and operational planning, including positioning, segmentation, customer strategy, value proposition, target market selection and lifecycle priorities.
Generate deep customer, patient, market and competitive insights and translate them into choices that address unmet need and maximize value.
Develop future-focused revenue forecasts and business cases informed by robust insights and sound commercial judgement.
Represent Global Commercial in relevant Global Product Team and investment decision forums, providing commercially rigorous input to evidence generation and Phase III decisions.
2. Launch excellence and market shaping
Lead global launch strategy, launch readiness and execution for Sone-Ve across priority markets, with clear milestones, decision points and performance measures.
Develop a novel global brand campaign, clear and impactful messaging, core launch tactics and an integrated customer experience approach.
Build distinctive market-shaping programs that increase understanding of the unmet need, CLDN18.2 testing and the evolving role of ADCs in gastric cancer.
Engage regional and country teams early, incorporate market feedback and establish mechanisms to share learning and accelerate adoption of best practice.
Lead agency and vendor relationships, ensuring quality, pace, compliance, value and effective use of resources.
3. CG-02 indication leadership
Lead commercial preparation for the CG-02 indication as a major future growth opportunity for GI asset
Define the future market, customer needs, competitive differentiation, positioning, value proposition, and launch approach.
Partner with Clinical Development, Medical, Regulatory, Diagnostics and Market Access to ensure commercial insights inform evidence and access strategies.
Build an integrated pre-launch roadmap that enables early market shaping and ensures readiness ahead of anticipated regulatory milestones.
Identify portfolio and enterprise synergies that strengthen the asset's contribution to AstraZeneca’s gastric cancer ambition.
4. China rotation and GI Asia strategic acceleration
The role includes a structured six-month rotation within the China Oncology organization. The explicit purpose is to support the GI Asia focus for the GI asset in line with wider gastric cancer ambitions and to create a two-way flow of insight, capability and best practice between China, Asia and the global organization.
Build first-hand understanding of China’s gastric cancer ecosystem, customer needs, competitive dynamics and routes to patient impact.
Work closely with China Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Diagnostics and cross-functional leaders to support asset strategy and execution.
Ensure China and wider Asia insights are systematically incorporated into global strategy, launch planning and lifecycle choices.
Identify, document and actively transfer examples of best practice from asset in China and from wider enterprise work across the organization.
Develop a practical China and Asia best-practice playbook, with recommendations for scaling selected approaches across relevant markets.
Act as a strategic bridge between Global and China teams, strengthening relationships, decision quality and speed of learning.
5. Business, budget and performance management
Own and manage relevant global brand budgets, forecasts and resource allocation to target, with clear prioritization and financial discipline.
Define a focused performance framework and use leading and lagging measures to identify gaps, risks and opportunities.
Provide high-quality brand and business updates to senior leadership, generating clear decisions and follow-through.
Proactively identify and manage strategic, operational, regulatory and reputational risks, ensuring activities comply with policy, legal, regulatory and industry requirements.
