Overview
Payments Network Technology is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead engineering teams delivering secure, reliable, and scalable payment-network capabilities. The role combines people leadership, technology direction, delivery accountability, and cross-functional partnership.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams, including managers and senior technical leaders.
• Set engineering direction aligned with product priorities, architecture standards, resiliency, security, and operational objectives.
• Own delivery outcomes across a portfolio of services, balancing customer commitments, technical investment, risk, and capacity.
• Build an inclusive, accountable engineering culture through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Operations, Security, and dependent programs to resolve priorities and delivery risks.
• Establish measurable standards for quality, automation, release readiness, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate portfolio status, risks, trade-offs, and decisions to senior leadership.
Essential Skills
• Experience leading managers and multiple software engineering teams.
• Experience with large-scale, highly available platforms and modern software engineering practices.
• Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, cloud-native delivery, CI/CD, and observability.
• Ability to translate business strategy into executable engineering plans and organizational priorities.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.
• Clear communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work with globally distributed product, engineering, architecture, operations, and business teams.
• Experience managing two or more software development teams.
• Proven experience leading complex technology solutions from concept through design, delivery, and production adoption.
• Experience building resilient, operable solutions, with operational readiness considered from the start of development.
• People-management experience covering performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and career development planning.
• Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.
