Business Description
Real Estate Services manages HSBC’s global property portfolio of c. 22 million square feet. Role Purpose
The role holder will provide effective, compliant, and operational leadership for the market’s annual strategic projects programme.
With deep expertise in design and construction programmes, the role holder will bring a proven track record of delivering large-scale and strategically significant initiatives. As a recognised technical Subject Matter Expert, they will be accountable for the successful delivery of capital programme services through the Bank’s outsourced partners. Success in the role requires balancing performance, cost, quality, and risk mitigation, supported by strong capability in interpreting and applying performance data (including spatial, contract, and vendor metrics).
The role holder will lead and oversee outsourced services across key projects, addressing underperformance, resolving issues, driving value-add initiatives, and acting as the escalation point for programme and project matters. They will embed the RES and functional strategy into the strategic programme, identifying opportunities to introduce leading-edge scope and delivery approaches—such as digital processes, Smart Building technology, D&I enablement, and space utilisation solutions—alongside enhancements to contracted services and/or new delivery models where appropriate.
Strong knowledge of local market costs and contracting forms is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Knowledge / Qualifications
Prior experience delivering strategic first mover or large scale complex programs
Professional qualification in a Project Management discipline, Architecural, Construction Management, Contract Management or a relevant equivalent
Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of SME activities and issues faced by complex/large program delivery.
Experience leading and delivering programs with a sustainability, innovation, and/or transformation focus
Expertise and knowledge in relation to Supplier Management, contract administration and construction SME within a strategic real estate context with extensive contract negation, and administration experience
Understanding of Workspace and hybrid ways of working solutions.
Data literacy and proven ability to use insights to drive value
Experience
Significant experience in managing RES SME activities on first mover programs
International experience will be a benefit
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects with timely and quality results concurrently.
Demonstrated results in managing Suppliers and Supplier/stakeholder issues
Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and handle ambiguity
Demonstrated experience in managing diverse and at time conflicting requirements between business and group standards
Strong Stakeholder management skills and advisory acumen, balancing cost, risk, and performance.
Skills
The role requires the ability to guide, persuade and influence others (sometime cross discipline) through developed skills of communication and diplomacy.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop recommendations , and programs to effectively execute solutions
Strong presentation skills to clearly communicate ideas and concepts to all levels of the organisation
Ability to communicate in English required
Demonstrated commerciality on supplier management and SME areas balancing costs, customer demands, meeting high standards and RES's requirements, and supplier relationship management.
Ability to engage and influence senior executives of the Bank at global, regional and market level with the ability to apply real estate and architectural principles to business solutions
Role model and advocate for HSBC acting at all times in a way that complies with the Banks code of conduct, ethics and stance on bribery
Ability to grasp, understand and independently handle new projects and innovative ideas
High level of drive and motivation to ensure successful delivery of complex transformational initiatives
Ability to leverage resources available to achieve goals
Outstanding organizational and planning skills in order to cope with multiple large-scale responsibilities
Additional Notes
Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required
