About the Role
We are looking for an experienced K–12 Editor with a strong background in school textbook publishing or academic content development. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in editing and developing content for school-level textbooks and curriculum-based learning material, preferably within a reputed publishing house.
The role requires someone with a strong understanding of K–12 pedagogy, textbook content, curriculum requirements, and editorial standards, along with excellent language and content-editing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Edit, proofread, rewrite and develop content for K–12 school textbooks and academic learning resources.
Work closely with authors, writers, content developers and internal editorial teams to develop high-quality educational content.
Review manuscripts for accuracy, clarity, age appropriateness, structure, language and curriculum alignment.
Ensure content follows relevant CBSE/ICSE and school curriculum requirements.
Develop and refine textbook chapters, exercises, activities, questions, examples and supplementary content.
Identify gaps, inconsistencies and factual/content issues and recommend appropriate revisions.
Maintain consistency in editorial style, terminology, tone and instructional approach across publications.
Coordinate with design and production teams to ensure editorial content is accurately incorporated into final books.
Manage multiple titles/projects and meet editorial deadlines.
Contribute to content planning and development based on the requirements of the K–12 education market.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of relevant experience in K–12 school textbook publishing, academic content, or educational publishing.
Must have experience working with a publishing house or academic content organization.
Strong experience in editing, writing, proofreading and rewriting.
Prior experience working on school textbooks/curriculum-based content is essential.
Good understanding of K–12 curriculum and pedagogy.
Experience with CBSE/ICSE school textbooks will be highly preferred.
Excellent command of English with strong editorial and proofreading skills.
Ability to work across multiple subjects and grade levels.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Background
Candidates from school textbook publishers, educational publishers, academic content companies, EdTech content teams, or curriculum/content development organizations would be preferred.
Experience across subjects such as English, Science, Social Science, EVS, GK, Logical Reasoning, Life Skills or similar K–12 subjects will be an advantage.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an editor who understands that K–12 editorial work is more than language correction—the candidate should be able to evaluate educational content, improve its instructional quality, ensure curriculum relevance, and take a manuscript through the editorial development process.
