Sayzo is a small, focused product team in India building a mobile-first app that helps people get real things done.
We maintain a codebase shipping across web, Android, and iOS. Because our team is lean, you'll understand the context behind every decision and yours will directly shape where we go next.
What You'll Do
API Architecture: Build and maintain high-throughput APIs using FastAPI and async Python, fully typed end-to-end.
Data Engineering: Model structured data in PostgreSQL and author clean, zero-downtime database migrations.
Background Processing: Own asynchronous architectures managing background queues, scheduled tasks, retries, and distributed workflows.
Third-Party Integrations: Integrate payment gateways, messaging systems, and real-time media APIs while handling vendor downtimes gracefully.
AI Infrastructure: Build the dependable server-side plumbing and pipelines that power AI features across the product.
Observability: Set up meaningful logging, metrics, and alerting to diagnose and resolve production incidents rapidly.
What We’re Looking For
Backend Expertise: 2–5 years of experience building backend systems in Python (or strong production experience in another language with a strong desire to transition).
Deep SQL Knowledge: Solid database fundamentals—ability to analyze query execution plans, design indexes effectively, and optimize query performance.
Async Mastery: A fundamental understanding of Python’s async/await execution model and concurrency patterns.
System Correctness: A habit of designing for idempotency, edge cases, race conditions, and graceful failure modes.
Testing Discipline: Proactive testing habits for critical pathways, data integrity, and complex business logic.
Nice to Have
Production experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
Cloud infrastructure and DevOps tools: AWS, Docker, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Prior work on payment processors or financially sensitive backend systems.
Experience with geospatial queries (PostGIS) or vector search databases.
