About the Role
9not9 is looking for a Mechanical Product Development Engineer who can work on the development of innovative convertible footwear products, including our upcoming Convertible Heels.
We are looking for someone who has strong knowledge of mechanism design, precision engineering, product development, CAD designing and injection moulding and can take a mechanical concept from the initial idea through prototype development and refinement.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Develop and design mechanisms for convertible heels and innovative footwear products
🔹 Design and develop locking, hinge, folding, rotating, detachable and moving mechanisms
🔹 Create accurate 3D CAD models, assemblies and engineering drawings
🔹 Work on precision designing, tolerances, dimensions and component fitment
🔹 Develop mechanical components considering strength, stability, durability and user safety
🔹 Develop prototypes and conduct functional testing and iterations
🔹 Identify design problems and provide practical engineering solutions
🔹 Work on Injection Moulding-based component design and mould development concepts
🔹 Understand DFM/DFA, mould design, tooling and manufacturing feasibility
🔹 Select suitable materials for mechanical and moulded components
🔹 Coordinate with external prototype, tooling and manufacturing vendors
🔹 Prepare BOM, technical drawings, specifications and production-ready design data
🔹 Continuously improve the mechanism based on prototype testing and performance
Required Skills
✅ Strong knowledge of Mechanical Mechanism Design
✅ Product Development / R&D experience
✅ Strong 3D CAD Designing skills – SolidWorks / Creo / CATIA / Fusion 360 or equivalent
✅ Knowledge of Precision Engineering & Tolerance
✅ Knowledge of Injection Moulding & Mould Design
✅ Understanding of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes
✅ Prototype development & testing experience
✅ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
✅ Ability to convert an idea/concept into a functional mechanical product
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience in consumer products, product innovation, mechanical assemblies, footwear components, plastic products, injection moulded products, tooling or mechanism-based products will be preferred.
Experience: 1–5 years
Qualification: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Tool & Die or related field.
