Essential Requirements
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar field with 10+ yrs experience
Strong aptitude to assess and optimize products by making the proper feature tradeoffs between mechanical, electrical, power, thermal, firmware, and BIOS
Must have excellent working knowledge of engineering design principles with specific expertise in the areas of large-scale production, sheet metal, injection molding, electrical interconnects, heat extraction, and vibration
For Mechanical - Must have extensive experience with 3D CAD systems, ability to create basic concept models, interrogate production development models, and convey ideas through CAD with strong aptitude for interpretation of mechanical simulations, design, test, and qualification requirements
For Electrical - Must have extensive experience in Embedded Systems Electronics design both Schematics and PCB Layout. Strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design, with proven experience in high speed design.
Desirable Requirements
15+ years of mechanical design engineering experience (or MS in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience), including recent 5+ years using Pro-E/CREO or Schematic / PCB Layout Design.
Specialized in the design and analysis of electronics enclosures, with experience in PC, server, or similar product platforms
Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $258,000.

What you’ll achieve
The primary responsibilities of this position are to establish product mechanical requirements, engineer the product to meet those requirements and validate that the product meets those requirements. This involves working with internal development teams and external suppliers and development partners to develop innovative mechanical solutions for PCs, particularly notebooks, using leading-edge engineering software, tools and processes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the products meet design targets in areas such as quality, feature set, cost, schedule, reliability, acoustics, regulatory and safety. The mechanical architect will be responsible for mechanical architecture, component and system-level specifications, creating and directing CAD models, interpreting test data, and status reporting for assigned team projects. The mechanical architect will also be responsible for driving others including external suppliers and development partners to deliver robust mechanical solutions.
You will:
Provide technical expertise and engineering leadership to influence future mobile product design, with a strong focus on the front-end design cycle
Collaborate with Marketing and internal teams to define product requirements and generate customer-focused design concepts
Lead cross-functional technical decisions across industrial design, usability, quality, and reliability domains
Develop and communicate design concepts using 3D CAD tools, and direct design enablement with external development partners (ODMs)
Partner with technology providers to identify innovation opportunities, assess risks, ensure implementation readiness, and generate intellectual property
