Lead ServiceNow Application Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead ServiceNow Application Developer based in India.
This role leads the development of scalable ServiceNow solutions that support complex enterprise business priorities and operational needs.
You will combine hands-on development with technical leadership, delivering enhancements, integrations, automation, and backlog remediation.
The position offers an opportunity to work closely with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to shape high-quality platform solutions.
You will also leverage AI-enabled ServiceNow capabilities, including Now Assist and Predictive Intelligence, to improve development efficiency and solution quality.
The role sits within an Agile delivery environment where collaboration, continuous improvement, peer review, and reliable deployment are essential.
As a technical lead, you will guide senior developers, review code, and take ownership of complex integrations and high-priority development challenges.
This is a full-time remote opportunity based in Bangalore, offering significant exposure to enterprise ServiceNow architecture and modern platform capabilities.
Accountabilities
ServiceNow Development: Deliver ServiceNow enhancements, configurations, customizations, and backlog items in line with sprint priorities, platform standards, and business objectives.
Integration Development: Design and implement scalable custom REST API integrations with external systems while ensuring alignment with the overall ServiceNow platform architecture.
AI-Enabled Development: Apply AI-enabled development practices and leverage ServiceNow capabilities such as Now Assist and Predictive Intelligence to improve solution quality, productivity, and delivery efficiency.
Solution Design: Partner with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders to design scalable, maintainable, and best-practice ServiceNow solutions.
Automation and Optimization: Identify and implement automation opportunities that improve development speed, quality, consistency, and the efficiency of backlog delivery.
Agile Delivery: Support the full sprint lifecycle, including development, peer reviews, testing, deployment preparation, platform improvements, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and code reviews for Senior Developers, act as a point of escalation for complex development challenges, and take ownership of complex integrations and high-priority backlog items requiring architectural alignment.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge transfer, platform governance, and adherence to established team practices and working agreements.
Requirements
ServiceNow Experience: 9–12 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, with strong practical expertise in building and enhancing enterprise ServiceNow platforms.
Platform Development: Strong knowledge of Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, REST API integrations, and ServiceNow application development practices.
ITSM Expertise: Solid understanding of ITSM module configuration, ServiceNow platform governance, and best practices for maintaining scalable and well-controlled enterprise environments.
Agile Delivery: Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams and familiarity with Jira or similar project and delivery management tools.
AI Capabilities: Familiarity with AI-enabled ServiceNow features, particularly Now Assist and Predictive Intelligence, with an interest in applying emerging capabilities to development workflows.
Technical Leadership: Proven ability to guide developers, conduct effective code reviews, solve complex technical problems, and maintain high standards of quality and maintainability.
Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively within complex and highly customized enterprise environments.
Preferred Domain Experience: Experience with both ITSM and CSM is preferred, particularly as the platform may expand into CSM capabilities in future phases.
Enterprise Environment: Previous experience working in large enterprise or regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, or similar environments is advantageous.
Certifications: Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD) certifications are required; CIS–ITSM is preferred, while CIS–CSM is advantageous. ServiceNow micro-certifications or badges related to AI, Now Assist, or automation are also valued.
