About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative Manager – Design (Ladieswear Woven) to lead the design and collection development function for ladieswear woven apparel.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ladieswear woven, particularly non-denim products, with proven experience in trend analysis, design development, fabric selection, collection building, and product development.
Candidates with experience working in reputed export-oriented apparel manufacturing organizations serving renowned European and American buyers will be strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive fashion and market trend analysis to identify upcoming trends in:
Silhouettes
Colors
Fabrics
Prints
Styling
Finishing techniques
Develop creative and commercially viable design sketches and product concepts aligned with current market trends and buyer requirements.
Lead the complete design and collection development process, from initial concept through to final product.
Develop cohesive seasonal collections for ladieswear woven, primarily focusing on non-denim products.
Work closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Sampling, and Production teams to ensure smooth execution of designs.
Maintain effective communication with international buyers to understand their design briefs, specifications, expectations, and market requirements.
Translate buyer briefs and market trends into commercially successful product concepts.
Select and recommend appropriate woven fabrics based on:
Garment style
Construction
Drape
Appearance
Functionality
End-use requirements
Provide design direction and guidance on fabrics, trims, colors, prints, silhouettes, and finishing techniques.
Review samples and prototypes and provide constructive feedback to ensure design accuracy, quality, and buyer compliance.
Continuously monitor international fashion trends and competitor collections to maintain a contemporary and competitive design direction.
Lead, manage, and mentor the design team, ensuring timely completion of collections and design developments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design and product-development challenges.
Ensure all collections meet required standards of:
Design aesthetics
Commercial viability
Quality
Technical feasibility
Buyer expectations
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 6+ years of professional experience in fashion/apparel design.
Strong and proven experience in Ladieswear Woven, particularly non-denim products.
Prior experience in design development and collection building within reputed woven apparel manufacturing organizations.
Strong knowledge of woven fabrics, including:
Fabric characteristics
Construction
Weight
Drape
Texture
Suitability for different garment styles
Ability to select and recommend suitable fabrics based on design, silhouette, garment construction, and end-use.
Proven experience working with renowned European and/or American fashion/apparel buyers.
Strong understanding of international fashion trends and ladieswear markets.
Excellent creative, conceptual, and commercial design skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with international buyers and cross-functional teams.
Ability to develop commercially viable collections while maintaining a strong creative design direction.
A strong portfolio demonstrating Ladieswear Woven design and collection development is highly preferred.
Candidates with experience in international apparel markets and export-oriented manufacturing will be strongly preferred.
