The IT Business Systems Analyst specialising in a specific application will act as an expert in the usage and configuration of an approved application. This role involves the analysis, design, implementation, and support of the application/ product to align with the organisation’s strategies and objectives. The analyst will ensure that the system meets business needs and provides an optimal user experience.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Requirements Gathering and Process Improvement
Collaborate with stakeholders: Engage with stakeholders to understand their business processes, pain points, and objectives.
Document and analyse business requirements: Collect detailed requirements and analyse them to ensure they align with the overall business strategy and objectives.
Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys: Use various methods to gather information and insights from different stakeholders, including interviews, focus groups, workshops, and surveys.
Identify areas for improvement: Analyse current processes and workflows to pinpoint inefficiencies, redundancies, or areas that can be enhanced.
Propose solutions: Recommend and design improvements or enhancements within the application to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
System Design, Configuration, and Documentation
Work with IT and Business teams: Collaborate closely with both IT and Business teams to ensure the system design meets business needs.
Design and configure the application: Customise and configure modules to align with business requirements.
Ensure best practices: Implement configurations that adhere to industry best practices and standards to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Create detailed documentation: Develop comprehensive documentation for business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, process maps, and system configurations.
Maintain records of system changes: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all system configurations, changes, and updates.
Adhere to change control processes: Follow change management best practices to ensure a stable application
Testing and Quality Assurance
Develop test plans: Create detailed test plans that outline the scope, approach, resources, and schedule for testing activities.
Execute test plans: Conduct thorough testing to validate that the system meets business requirements and performs as expected.
Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT): Organise and manage UAT sessions, ensuring that end-users test the system thoroughly and provide feedback.
Document feedback and manage defect resolution: Record all feedback from UAT sessions, prioritise defects or issues, and work with the technical team to resolve them promptly.
Project Management Support
Assist in project planning and scheduling: Contribute to the development of project plans/ Sprint plans, including defining scope, timelines, resources, and milestones.
Track project progress: Monitor project activities, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Identify and mitigate risks: Proactively identify potential risks to the project and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Provide regular status updates: Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders through regular reports and meetings.
Ensure alignment with business goals: Make sure that project activities and outcomes align with the strategic goals and objectives of the organisation.
Training, Support, and Stakeholder Communication
Develop training materials: Create comprehensive training materials, including user guides, manuals, and online resources to support end-user training.
Conduct training sessions: Lead training sessions to ensure end-users are proficient in using the application.
Provide ongoing support: Offer continuous support and troubleshooting for any issues that arise with the implemented solution in line with the department support processes.
Facilitate communication: Ensure effective and clear communication between Business users, IT Business Partners and other IT technical teams to address any system-related concerns or requirements.
