Role Description The Indirect Taxation role at Ashok Leyland is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. This role involves managing indirect tax compliance, including GST, customs, and other applicable indirect taxes, ensuring timely and accurate filings and documentation. The individual will review transactions, contracts, and business processes to assess indirect tax implications and mitigate potential risks. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with internal finance, legal, and operational teams, liaising with tax authorities and external consultants, and supporting audits, assessments, and reconciliations. The role also includes monitoring regulatory changes, advising stakeholders on tax-efficient structures, and contributing to process improvements and system enhancements related to indirect taxation.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong knowledge of indirect tax laws and regulations, especially GST, customs, and other applicable Indian indirect taxes.
Candidates should possess skills in tax compliance, return preparation, documentation, and audit support, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Candidates should possess analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting tax provisions, assessing risks, and providing practical recommendations.
Candidates should possess proficiency in accounting and ERP systems, tax software tools, and MS Excel for reconciliations and reporting.
Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external tax authorities or advisors.
Relevant professional qualifications such as CA, CMA, CS, or a master’s degree in finance, accounting, or taxation are highly beneficial.
Experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector, and prior exposure to large-scale indirect tax operations, would be an advantage.
Candidates should possess the ability to work on-site in Chennai, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high ethical standards and compliance integrity.
