Company Description Team Sakthi Racing is a student-led Formula Student team founded in 2014 at KCT Garage, driven by a shared passion for engineering and motorsport. Over the past decade, the team has consistently designed and manufactured a new Formula Student vehicle each year, focusing on innovation, performance, and reliability. Team Sakthi Racing actively competes in Formula Bharat and Supra Formula Student competitions, achieving an All India Rank of 13 and a global ranking of 284. Members collaborate across engineering disciplines, dedicating months to design, refinement, testing, and validation to meet strict competition standards. The team offers an environment where aspiring engineers can gain hands-on experience, push the boundaries of automotive engineering, and contribute to a competitive racing program.
Role Description The Steering Lead is a full-time, on-site position based in Coimbatore, responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and optimization of the vehicle’s steering system. Day-to-day activities include conceptualizing steering geometry, selecting components, performing calculations, and creating detailed CAD models and engineering drawings. The role involves coordinating manufacturing and assembly, supervising fitment on the vehicle, and conducting tests to validate performance, safety, and reliability. The Steering Lead collaborates closely with suspension, chassis, braking, and aerodynamics sub-teams to ensure system integration and compliance with Formula Student rules. Additional responsibilities include documentation, participation in design reviews, mentoring junior team members, and supporting trackside setup and troubleshooting during testing and competitions.

Experience with CAD and engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Fusion 360, or similar) for modeling steering components and assemblies.
Practical skills in manufacturing processes, workshop practices, and assembly, including familiarity with machining, welding, and fastening methods.
Ability to perform basic calculations and analysis related to steering forces, material selection, and durability, using hand calculations or simulation software.
Prior involvement in Formula Student or similar motorsport/engineering projects is highly beneficial, especially in steering, suspension, or chassis subsystems.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and testing skills, with the ability to diagnose steering-related issues during vehicle shakedown and events.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks, document designs, and guide junior team members in a multidisciplinary environment.
Commitment to safety, attention to detail, and readiness to work extended hours during peak design, build, and competition phases.
