Join Citi's Custody Operations team in Tokyo and take ownership of Japanese securities settlement at one of the highest transaction volumes in the Japanese market. Sitting within Transaction Management, this role covers the full settlement cycle for both equity and fixed income securities, serving Japan-resident and non-resident institutional clients including global investors, financial institutions, and domestic securities firms. This is an opportunity to build lasting expertise in securities settlement while contributing directly to a team that operates at the scale and speed of one of the world's leading financial institutions.
Responsibilities
Deliver accurate and timely settlement of Japanese equity and fixed income securities, covering both securities and cash settlement on a daily basis.
Verify trade bookings to confirm accuracy before processing, identifying and resolving discrepancies to prevent settlement failures.
Coordinate with internal teams, counterparties, settlement institutions, and clients to resolve transaction processing issues efficiently.
Perform account reconciliations, regulatory controls, and record retention activities to maintain operational standards and compliance.
Complete daily rate revaluations and prepare periodic internal and external reports, including regulatory submissions where required.
Support asset servicing activities, including the processing of dividends, interest payments, and corporate actions on client securities holdings.
Support managers and team members in day-to-day operations, with the ability to manage workloads and make sound decisions with limited direct supervision.
Identify opportunities to improve settlement workflows and contribute to process efficiency initiatives across the team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Between 3 and 10 years of securities settlement or middle office operations experience at a bank, securities firm, or financial institution.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks accurately and on time in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Control-oriented approach to daily operational tasks, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Languages: Japanese (native or fluent) and English (business level) are both required. /

Comfortable using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve daily productivity, automate routine tasks, and support decision-making.
Proficient in MS Office applications, with competency in Excel and other standard business tools.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Japanese equity and/or fixed income products in a settlement or middle office context.
Experience contributing to process improvement initiatives, with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and propose practical solutions.
Familiarity with AI-driven workflow automation or experience integrating AI tools into operational processes.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles or securities operations regulations in the Japanese market.
