Principal Engineer

About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer.
In this role, you will:
Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Define and drive enterprise architecture and engineering standards for networking and application delivery.
Design, implement, and optimize solutions using F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM/DNS/WAF) and AVI Load Balancers.
Lead infrastructure modernization and cloud adoption initiatives across hybrid environments.
Provide technical leadership for high-availability, scalability, security, and resiliency improvements.
Partner with application, platform, cloud, and security teams to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.
Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
Mentor engineers and influence technology strategy across the organization.
Expert knowledge of F5 BIG-IP and AVI Load Balancer platforms.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, SSL/TLS, and application networking.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, or CI/CD pipelines.
Proven ability to lead large-scale infrastructure initiatives and influence enterprise architecture decisions.
Strong debugging & production support skills to drive & resolve highly visible production incidents
Job Expectations:
Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
F5, VMware, Cisco, or Cloud certifications.
Experience with WAF, Global Load Balancing, Zero Trust, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
