About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
The Digital Software Engineer Senior Analyst is a seasoned professional role. This individual will apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge of modern web technologies to contribute to the development of new user-facing features, the optimization of frontend architectures, and the improvement of development workflows.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, full-stack-capable UI Developer with deep expertise in Angular, React, and Node.js. You will integrate subject matter and industry expertise to design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and accessible digital applications. This role requires an in-depth understanding of how frontend applications integrate with backend microservices, as well as how engineering teams coordinate to achieve overall business objectives.
You will evaluate moderately complex and variable technical challenges, weigh architectural alternatives, and balance performance, security, and usability requirements. Strong analytical, communication, and diplomacy skills are required to collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and influence technical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Application Design & Development
Feature Delivery: Accountable for executing and driving mid-to-large-scale UI feature design and development efforts to completion, serving as a technical lead on medium-scale projects and supporting the execution of larger digital initiatives.
Technical Autonomy: Operate with considerable autonomy and discretion to significantly influence application design, component architecture, and state management strategies by providing subject-specific expertise in Angular, React, and Node.js.
Code Quality: Turn complex application designs and UX wireframes into clean, well-structured, reusable, and highly performant code adhering to modern software engineering principles.
Standards & Blueprints: Assist with the development of enterprise standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation, ensuring that frontend designs adhere to the overall digital architecture blueprint and design systems.
2. Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization
Problem Solving: Act as a key resource for analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex coding, application performance, and design challenges across the frontend and Node.js BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) layers.
Root Cause Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research into the root causes of development bottlenecks, rendering issues, memory leaks, and API latency, and drive the resolution of defects.
System Dependencies: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of runtime properties, build dependencies, and environmental configurations (e.g., Webpack/Vite configurations, Node.js runtime, containerization, and upstream/downstream API integrations).
3. Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Design Leadership: Participate in and lead technical design discussions, playing a key role in driving architectural decisions based on your deep knowledge of the codebase, industry trends, and team capabilities.
Vendor & Partner Integration: Partner with industry vendors and internal UX design teams to implement digital design systems, evaluate third-party components, and align implementation roadmaps to increase development velocity.
SDLC Lifecycle: Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), identifying dependencies between Agile and Waterfall delivery models, executing comprehensive test plans, and ensuring rigorous software quality standards.
Knowledge Sharing: Proactively share knowledge with the team through engineering forums, brown bags, and technical documentation, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and industry certifications.
4. Risk, Compliance & Governance
Risk Assessment: Appropriately assess risk when technical and business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Secure Coding: Adhere to secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, prevention of XSS, CSRF, and SQL injection) and ensure robust authentication/authorization flows (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT) are implemented across UI and Node.js layers.
Process Optimization: Continuously assess development processes, test automation, and deployment pipelines to streamline or eliminate redundant processes across the build, delivery, and production environments.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Required Technical Expertise:
Frontend Frameworks: Proficient in Angular (latest versions, RxJS, NgRx/State Management) AND React (Hooks, Context API, Redux/Zustand).
Core Web Technologies: Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, TypeScript, and modern CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap).
Data Structures & Algorithms: Proficient in client-side information modeling, state normalization, data structures, and efficient algorithms for data manipulation.
API Integration: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, and asynchronous message patterns.
Testing Frameworks: Experience writing robust unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Jest, Jasmine, React Testing Library, and Cypress.
Build & CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with modern bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Rollup), package managers (npm, yarn, pnpm), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Tekton, Harness, Git).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
Experience with Micro-frontend architectures and Monorepo management tools (e.g., Nx, Lerna).
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and semantic HTML.
Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Recommended Qualifications
Experience: 5–8 years of professional experience in a product development or software engineering environment, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality web applications.
Agile Delivery: Proven experience delivering software within an Agile/Scrum methodology.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to assume informal or formal leadership roles within engineering teams, including coaching and mentoring junior developers.
Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and diplomatically resolve discordant views.
Adaptability: Experience in driving technical and cultural change within engineering teams (e.g., adopting new frameworks, improving test coverage, or automating processes).
Education
Bachelor’s/University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
