Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Remote (Europe)
Join a rapidly growing AI-focused hyperscaler delivering the next generation of high-density GPU data centres across Europe and globally.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll shape mechanical and cooling strategy across new hyperscale campuses, from early site assessment through to construction, commissioning and live operations.
Working closely with Site Acquisition, Technical Due Diligence, Engineering and Construction teams, you'll have genuine influence over global design standards while working on complex AI/HPC infrastructure and regularly travelling to prospective sites across EMEA and internationally.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical and HVAC design across new hyperscale data centre builds and major campus expansions
Assess prospective sites, evaluating mechanical infrastructure, cooling capacity, technical risks and feasibility
Define and standardise mechanical and cooling design principles across multiple regions
Review and challenge consultant, contractor and vendor designs throughout design and construction
Support commissioning, handover and continuous improvement of global mechanical design standards
Required Skills & Experience
Strong mechanical engineering background within hyperscale or large-scale data centre environments
Extensive experience designing and reviewing HVAC and critical cooling systems
Experience assessing new sites or supporting early-stage data centre/infrastructure development
Strong understanding of high-density cooling for AI and HPC environments
Experience across design, construction and commissioning, with confidence challenging consultants and vendors
