Role Description This is a remote contract role for a DevOps Engineer focused on supporting projects within the insurance industry. The DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery across development and production environments. Day-to-day tasks include managing infrastructure as code, administering Linux-based systems, monitoring system performance, and ensuring high availability and reliability of services. The role involves collaborating closely with software development teams to automate builds, tests, and deployments, as well as troubleshooting issues across infrastructure and application layers. The DevOps Engineer will also contribute to improving security, observability, and operational processes through tooling, documentation, and best practices.
Qualifications
Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills, including experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar solutions.
Hands-on Software Development experience in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar) to support automation and tooling.
Proficiency in Continuous Integration and delivery concepts, using platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Solid System Administration skills, with proven experience managing and troubleshooting Linux environments in production.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly beneficial.
Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk) to maintain system health and visibility.
Understanding of security best practices in DevOps, including secrets management, access control, and secure configuration management.
Ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional teams, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience in DevOps, systems engineering, or software engineering.
Experience in the insurance or broader financial services industry is an advantage.
