AI/ML Engineer (1-3 Years Experience | Immediate Joiner | Remote)

About the Role
Our client is looking for a talented AI/ML Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to build intelligent, production-grade AI systems for commerce applications.
The role involves developing AI-powered recommendation, optimization, reasoning, and structured decision-making systems that can understand business intent, handle ambiguous user requirements, validate outputs against platform constraints, and generate accurate configurations.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Python and/or Node.js, LLM APIs, RAG, structured outputs, tool/function calling, validation systems, and production AI pipelines.
This is not a prompt-only or chatbot-wrapper role. The focus is on building reliable AI systems that combine LLM reasoning with deterministic validation, recommendation systems, structured outputs, and autonomous workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain production-grade AI systems and APIs using Python and/or Node.js.
Develop AI-powered recommendation and decisioning systems using product, inventory, customer, transaction, and business data.
Build systems that convert natural-language requirements into validated structured configurations.
Develop reliable structured JSON generation pipelines using schemas, validation layers, and guardrails.
Build and integrate LLM-powered workflows using OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar models.
Implement function calling, tool calling, and multi-step reasoning workflows.
Develop RAG-based systems and contextual AI pipelines.
Design mechanisms for hallucination reduction, output validation, failure recovery, and AI reliability.
Combine deterministic business logic with probabilistic LLM reasoning.
Build APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Express.js, or Flask.
Design evaluation frameworks and testing mechanisms for measuring AI output quality.
Develop systems capable of handling ambiguous requirements and intelligently recovering when the initial solution fails.
Work closely with product and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable AI architectures.
Required Skills
1–3 years of experience in AI/ML, AI Engineering, Backend Engineering with AI, or related roles.
Strong programming skills in Python and/or Node.js.
Hands-on experience building APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or Express.js.
Experience working with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar LLM APIs.
Strong understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
Experience with structured JSON generation and structured output pipelines.
Hands-on experience with function calling and tool-calling workflows.
Understanding of multi-step LLM reasoning systems.
Experience with RAG – Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
Knowledge of prompt engineering for structured outputs.
Experience implementing validation systems and AI guardrails.
Understanding of hallucination reduction techniques.
Experience building or deploying production LLM pipelines.
Understanding of JSON schemas and structured data validation.
Strong fundamentals in system design and API development.
Ability to combine deterministic systems with probabilistic AI systems.
Understanding of AI evaluation, reliability, error handling, and failure recovery.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business logic into AI workflows.

Experience building recommendation systems.
Knowledge of market basket analysis.
Experience with association rule mining.
Understanding of Apriori and FP-Growth algorithms.
Experience developing inventory-aware recommendation systems.
Exposure to pricing, discount, revenue, or AOV optimization.
Experience with Pandas, NumPy, and SQL.
Experience building autonomous or agentic AI workflows.
Experience implementing reflection, retry, or recovery loops in AI systems.
Experience building evaluation harnesses for LLM applications.
Experience shipping AI features into production.
Exposure to e-commerce, Shopify, or commerce platforms.
Experience with tool-calling agents and bounded autonomous AI systems.
Understanding of capability graphs or constraint-based AI systems.
