Retail asset procurement advisor - Hybrid role - Chicago - other locations could be considered
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced procurement leader to shape and deliver category strategy across a large-scale retail and mobility network.
This role sits within a high-performing procurement function supporting a portfolio of convenience stores, fuel locations, EV charging infrastructure and travel centres. You will lead a team responsible for developing and executing category strategies covering retail construction, facilities maintenance, fuel infrastructure, store equipment and critical site assets.
Working closely with stakeholders across Construction, Facilities, Engineering, Operations, HSSE and Finance, you will influence investment decisions, drive value creation and develop resilient supplier networks that support continued growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver category strategies across retail construction, facilities management, maintenance and asset-related spend categories.
Lead commercial negotiations and supplier strategy for key regional and national suppliers.
Drive value through standardisation, specification optimisation, benchmarking and supplier performance improvement.
Partner with senior stakeholders to align procurement priorities with operational and growth objectives.
Manage and develop a team responsible for sourcing execution, contract administration and supplier management activities.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on performance, innovation and continuous improvement.
Utilise market intelligence, spend analytics and cost modelling to support strategic decision making.
Drive procurement best practice and governance across a complex multi-site environment.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience developing category strategies within a multi-site retail, convenience, hospitality, facilities management, property, construction or asset-intensive environment.
Strong commercial and negotiation skills with experience leading high-value supplier agreements.
Experience managing construction, maintenance, facilities, equipment or capital project categories.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders across a large, matrixed organisation.
Demonstrated people leadership experience, ideally managing procurement, sourcing or category teams.
Strong analytical capability with experience using procurement data, benchmarking and cost models to support decision making.
