Technical Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Manager with 8+ years of experience and strong expertise in ASC 606 and revenue recognition. This manager-level role combines technical accounting leadership with hands-on execution across complex accounting matters, month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical accounting activities, primarily focused on ASC 606, revenue recognition, and complex revenue arrangements.
Analyze contracts, merchant agreements, and business transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
Prepare and review technical accounting memos, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities, including flux analysis and resolution of complex accounting issues.
Partner with Product, Finance, Revenue Systems, Tax, and Operations on new products, business model changes, and revenue-related matters.
Oversee revenue accounting processes, including incentives, billing, reserves, and revenue recognition.
Drive process improvements, automation, and scalable accounting solutions.
Maintain SOX controls, support audits, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Provide accounting guidance, manage multiple priorities, and support special projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
8+ years of professional accounting experience, including technical accounting or revenue accounting.
Strong expertise in ASC 606, revenue recognition, and U.S. GAAP.
Hands-on experience with complex accounting analysis, contracts, and technical accounting conclusions.
Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead initiatives while remaining hands-on in execution.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or equivalent certification and/or worked with Big 4 Consulting firms.
Experience with Oracle R12, HFM, or other financial systems.
Experience with SOX compliance, automation, and process improvement.
Experience in technology, marketplace, delivery, or other high-growth businesses.
