Principal Engineer

Responsibilities:
Own the architecture and technical direction of large-scale backend systems.
Design and build highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
Drive High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) for complex systems and services.
Remain hands-on with coding, code reviews, technical design, and debugging.
Design and evolve microservices and service-oriented architectures.
Build event-driven systems and asynchronous processing pipelines.
Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to develop scalable and maintainable systems.
Design systems using CQRS and event sourcing where appropriate.
Make architectural decisions around data consistency, availability, scalability, and performance.
Design robust APIs and service contracts.
Identify and resolve scalability, reliability, and performance bottlenecks in production systems.
Establish engineering standards, design principles, and best practices across teams.
Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across complex initiatives.
Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, AI/ML, and other cross-functional teams.
Lead architecture reviews and drive continuous improvement of the technology platform.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in backend/software engineering.
Strong hands-on programming and software engineering experience.
Proven experience designing and architecting large-scale production systems.
Strong expertise in system design and software architecture.
Experience owning or leading technically complex production platforms.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability patterns.
Experience with microservices / service-oriented architecture.
Strong understanding of event-driven architecture.
Practical experience with CQRS, event sourcing, and domain-driven design (DDD).
Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, transactions, and data consistency.
Strong experience designing scalable APIs and service interfaces.
Strong understanding of reliability, fault tolerance, high availability, and performance optimization.
Excellent understanding of HLD and LLD.
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns, clean code, and coding best practices.
