Job Description
We are seeking a Mainframe Scheduler / Production Support Analyst to support enterprise batch processing workloads within an IBM z/OS environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting production workloads while helping ensure the stability and reliability of critical banking and payment processing applications.
This role combines workload scheduling, incident resolution, job flow analysis, batch processing, and production support. The analyst will investigate batch job failures and ABENDs, analyze job flows and dependencies, perform restart and recovery activities, monitor file transmissions, and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to support releases and maintain operational stability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and manage IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/TWS) job schedules and dependencies.
Research, analyze, and troubleshoot batch job flows, failures, and performance issues.
Develop and maintain JCL for daily, weekly, monthly, and on-demand batch processing.
Investigate batch ABENDs using SDSF and other diagnostic tools.
Perform job restart and recovery activities.
Conduct root cause analysis for production issues.
Monitor file transmissions and resolve processing issues to ensure timely delivery.
Support high-volume banking and payment processing applications in a production environment.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to support releases and projects.
Support production stability and operational continuity across critical workloads.
Utilize 3270 emulator tools to monitor and support z/OS operations.
Required Experience/Skills
Minimum 3 years of professional experience supporting IBM z/OS / Mainframe environments.
Hands-on experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/TWS).
Strong JCL experience.
Experience with enterprise batch processing.
Experience troubleshooting batch job failures and ABENDs.
Experience using SDSF and 3270 emulator tools.
Knowledge of job flow analysis and job dependencies.
Experience with job restart and recovery.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Experience monitoring file transmissions.
Experience with VSAM.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with development, infrastructure, and business teams.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with COBOL.
Experience with DB2.
Experience with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz).
Banking, payment processing, or financial services experience.
Experience with SDLC and production release support.
Experience with IBM Utilities.
No specific educational requirement has been provided for this position. Relevant hands-on experience supporting IBM z/OS production environments is highly valued.
