Manager Design - Womens Wear

Role Description The Manager Design – Womens Wear is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This role is responsible for leading the design and development of women’s bottom wear collections and in trend Indian wear from concept to final product. Key day-to-day tasks include researching trends and consumer preferences, creating design concepts and technical specifications, selecting fabrics and trims, and collaborating with merchandising, production, and sourcing teams to ensure timely sample development and bulk production. The manager will review fits, ensure quality standards are met, and optimize designs for cost and manufacturability. The role also involves managing the design team, maintaining design calendars, and ensuring the brand’s aesthetic and commercial goals are consistently achieved.
Qualifications
Strong fashion design skills in womenswear, with experience in bottom wear categories such as leggings, pants, skirts, and related silhouettes.
Proficiency in design tools and techniques (e.g., Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, CAD, technical sketching, and spec sheet preparation).
Capability in trend research, fabric and trim selection, and understanding of color, fit, and construction for mass-market retail.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, production, sourcing, and retail operations.
Proven ability to manage and mentor a design team, prioritize multiple projects, and meet seasonal timelines.
Knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, quality standards, and cost optimization in a fashion retail environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
Relevant experience in fashion retail or branded apparel, preferably in womenswear; experience in bottom wear is an advantage.
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with attention to detail and a consumer-centric mindset.
