Business Unit: CTO
Reporting to: Principal Engineer - Waveform
Job Purpose
A defense company based in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Principal Algorithm Developer (L1 Simulation) to join its team. The role is suited to an experienced wireless communications engineer with strong expertise in the design, development, simulation, and analysis of waveform and signal-processing algorithms.
Candidates must be engineers focused on design and analysis, rather than primarily software developers or programmers focused on implementation and optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, simulate, and analyse waveform and signal-processing algorithms for wireless communication systems.
Develop algorithms for modulation/demodulation, error correction, equalisation, synchronisation, and frequency offset correction.
Simulate and validate algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and/or C++.
Test performance under different channel conditions, including noise, fading, and interference.
Analyse performance using BER, SNR, and throughput.
Optimise algorithms for real-time implementation on FPGA, DSP, or software platforms.
Integrate algorithms into modem architectures alongside hardware, software, and waveform engineering teams.
Support design reviews, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and advanced DSP development.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
12+ years of experience developing and analysing algorithms for wireless communication modems.
Strong experience in waveform design, algorithm development, simulation, and DSP.
Experience with 5G, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, tactical radio, or similar wireless technologies.
Strong understanding of wireless communication standards and protocols.
Experience with FPGA/ASIC implementation is preferred.
PhD is an advantage.
